One chat per task
The cheapest habit is a new chat for each separate piece of work. A chat that has been running for days carries all of those days into every message.
TUTORIALS / GETTING STARTED
Above the chat box in the studio there is a small number: context, followed by a percentage. It is the chat's memory filling up. Here is what it means for your credits, and the one button that resets it.
01 Step by step
Every message you write, every answer the studio gives and every file it reads along the way stays in the chat's memory. That memory is the context, and the percentage shows how full it is.
Each new message is answered with the whole of it in view. So the fuller the context, the more credits each message can cost, even a short one. When it reaches the top, the older part of the conversation is condensed into a summary and some details from it can be lost.
None of this touches your system. The code, the data and everything already built stay exactly as they are. A new chat starts with an empty memory, not an empty system.
It sits above the box where you type, as "context: 83%" or similar. Below the halfway mark there is nothing to think about.
There is no need to stop in the middle of a change. Let the studio finish it and check the result in the Preview, then start fresh.
The + button sits at the bottom left of the chat box. It holds the new chat options, file attachments and the side question.
New chat starts clean, which is right for an unrelated task. New chat with summary carries a short summary of the current chat across, not the whole context, which is right when the next task continues the last one.
For example: "The bookings work, now I want reminders by SMS." The studio reads the system itself, so you do not have to explain what is already built.
02 In your own words
The + menu has four ways to carry on. They differ in how much of the current chat comes along.
WHAT YOU TYPE, AND WHAT COMES BACK
| A new task, unrelated to the last one | New chat |
| The next step of the same work | New chat with summary |
| Try another direction and keep this chat as it is | Branch this chat (takes the full context) |
| A quick question that should not stay in the chat | Side question (btw) |
03 What to watch for
The cheapest habit is a new chat for each separate piece of work. A chat that has been running for days carries all of those days into every message.
When the summary replaces older messages, something you said early on can drop out. If it matters, repeat it in the new chat in one sentence.
Old chats stay under Chats in the top bar, and the system keeps everything that was built. Only the conversation starts again.
